Disruption. Deschooling. Discovery.

A 10-hour commitment to re-imagining our relationships to projects, partnerships, and perspectives.

Our 2022 Carnival is a 10-hour experience of re-education for your participation in collective liberation work. You will move through thoughts, feelings, and actions to help you imagine, organize, and be part of the deconstructing effects of pervasive academic, non-profit, and corporate culture and standards.

Carnival is essentially a vehicle for concentrated time with my team, over the course of three months. It’s how you get to learn with us and from us through experience and experiment. Aspects of your world and mine will intertwine as I learn more about how you influence Belonging and Consent (among other equity-centric practices).

Carnival considers the work behind and before us. Behind us, in terms of the content we want to contribute to, gather, and give out. And before us, as in the work among us now, while we live, produce, play, build, and be with the people who make up our intimate and our broader communities.

Includes
two hours in September

+ 2 hours in October

Includes both one-to-one consultations
and group discussions.

+ 6 hours in November

During Carnival, I will share the full suite of Accelerated Intimacy™ resources so that you feel invited to and educated by what my communities are unlearning and re-imagining around Value, Equity, and Partnership.

You will be part of my intergenerational education circle for unlearning the ways we ignore multiple aspects of each person through normalized flattenings and standardizations. These deliberate practices of not flattening, are also what you and I will use to explore your own multiplicity.

And this carnival isn’t just about talking. We will also move, we’ll play with sound and with texture through these short bursts of cultural exchanges, these potential connection points.

The four aspects of carnival 2023

Curriculum

An unschooling-styled course of study for education around the culture of unschooling as we (Team RFPN) live and witness it.

You’ll access our full suite of Accelerated Intimacy practices in various forms.

  • Sometimes it’ll be you and me, talking.
  • Sometimes Marley (18-year-old unschooler) will facilitate a conversation in a small group setting
  • Sometimes, I (Akilah) will talk with another person and you will listening and comment through live chat (written, not verbal).
  • Sometimes you’ll be invited to be part of a workshop or a cohort around a specific topic that emerged.
  • Sometimes you and I will engage personal-retreat-style to focus on a particular project/need that you have in that moment.

All of these different things that I have done and will continue to do around liberation and belonging work is what you get invitations to as a Carnival participant.

Community With

You’re not hiring me, or our team, to do anything for you. We are doing this with you; we are working and playing and evolving through collaboration, so this is not a work-for-hire situation.

We kickin’ out the old-empire model of performing the roles and delivering the materials! Instead, you experience me living my actual life, as I invite you into specific areas of it to bear witness, to engage madd question askin’, to listen better, and to learn more about/through unschooling culture.

Our communal inquiries will explore:

  • language
  • mindset
  • activities
  • conversations
  • connections
  • emergence
  • portal work

All in service of increasing your capacity to notice, name, and evolve your more liberation-centric self and circles (your family, your profession, your purpose).

Chasm Work

I’m speaking specifically to the chasms that divides humans from our needs while we are in active collaboration with the intent to produce something. This includes work groups in for- and non-profits, as well as project-based initiatives at home and in other designated learning spaces.

Capital

Our Carnival 2022 program runs for 10 total hours over the course of 3 total months.

In September, we’ll schedule two one-hour, one-on-one sessions.

In October, we’ll schedule two 30-minute one-on-one sessions, and two 30-minute watch and learn sessions. In the watch and learns, you’ll witness an interview, discussion, or activity that directly relates to the specific work you and I will do together.

In November, we’ll have a total of six (6) hours to question, practice, experiment, and flow together in both one and one, and small group setting (with other Carnival 2022 members).

The proposed payment structure is $1500 to register, then $1500 on September 15th, and one last $1500 payment on October 15th.

Your 3-month payment subscription will end with your last payment in October.

We’ll use this capital to cover our operations costs, and I would be happy to speak more about our approach to charging for this work.

This privileges contents over container.

The very particular personal juice of somebody rather than the container that holds and shapes it. Like music: receiving the particular music coming from the instrument rather than judging the instrument first.

My mind is spinning in awesome ways!

Thank you for this conversation! What this draws out is at the level of who we are; about our individual and organizational identities and there is real power in that. People are longing for a deeper connection. The thing I like about the “unpractices” and the activity is that it engages divergent thinking about what is real and present in the moment and not curated.
